For mounting PVC posts directly to hardened surfaces (e.g. concrete or top of retaining wall), standard height is 0.4m but higher base is required on gate posts for accepting hinges.

When using this mounting method, PVC posts need to be cut short by 600mm from the bottom as they are no longer buried underground. Post dress rings are also recommended to conceal the gap between post and ground.
